By altering many neurotransmitters implicated in wakefulness and cognition, modafinil, also known as Modalert 200, alters the chemistry of the brain. Mainly by preventing dopamine reuptake, it raises dopamine levels, which improves attention and alertness. Arousal and sleep are regulated by various brain chemicals such as orexin, histamine, and norepinephrine, all of which are influenced by modalert. Those who suffer from sleep difficulties in particular benefit from these adjustments as they lessen exhaustion and increase mental clarity. Although changing brain chemistry is usually safe when done under medical supervision, abuse may result in long-term or adverse consequences. It should only be taken as directed in order to reduce possible hazards and preserve neurological equilibrium.
